During this appointment, the doctor will evaluate your or your child’s health, discuss the procedure in detail, and answer any questions you may have. This is the time to discuss medical history, allergies, current medications, and any concerns.
Medical History and Physical Examination
A thorough medical history and physical examination are conducted to ensure there are no underlying conditions that could complicate the procedure. Inform the doctor about any chronic illnesses, recent infections, or surgeries.
Preparation Steps
Fasting
If the circumcision is being performed under general anesthesia, fasting may be required. Typically, patients are advised not to eat or drink anything for at least six hours before the procedure. Specific instructions will be provided during your consultation.
Hygiene
On the day of the procedure, bathe or shower thoroughly to ensure the genital area is clean. For infants and young children, this may involve a gentle bath. Older children and adults should pay special attention to cleaning the genital area without causing irritation.
Clothing
